Her definition of "being friends" is following him around the halls and sitting next to him in silence, which of course, makes Andrew wary.Vivian isn't the best in conversation and neither is Andrew. So at first, Vivian just remarks obvious stuff about the enviroment ("It's dark", "everyone is scared"). Andrew is unable to find any kind of malice in her voice, so he quickly gets frustrated by her presence. Her quirks make him on edge, and the fact that he doesn't seem to be able to get rid of her is worse.The truth is, Vivian felt Andrew's loneliness mirrors her own. His paranoia, his fear, are things she also feels whenever she's under everyone's scrutinizing gaze.Vivian seems inoffensive, not attacking or insulting Andrew, so he finally lowers his guard ever so slightly.
